Press advisor to the prime minister (PM) and deputy chief of the publicity department of ruling CPN Surya Thapa has made written allegations against CPN Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal of operating a faction inside the party.
Presenting a 29-point written recommendation during the ongoing central committee meeting, Thapa has accused pervasive factionalism in the party without taking the name of Dahal. He has pointed that meetings have been held at Bhainsepati, Khumaltar and elsewhere to encircle PM and CPN Chairman KP Sharma Oli.
"Why have undisciplined anarchy been displayed and interest-inspired meetings been held? Why are such meetings being held at Bhainsepati, Khumaltar or elsewhere? Unfair activities should not be carried out in a way to encircle and fail the main leadership. The new unified party cannot be run by continuing the wrong legacy of erstwhile factions," Thapa has written in the 10th point.
Khumaltar is the residence of Dahal while a meeting of Dahal, senior leaders Jhala Nath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal, and CPN Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha was held at the residence of secretariat member Bam Dev Gautam in Bhainsepati on January 8.
Leaders close to Oli have called the Bahinsepati meeting a grouping against Oli and accused Dahal of trying to lead a faction after becoming executive chairman.
He has accused the leaders of resorting to factionalism and maneuverings instead of moving the party forward in a united manner.
"The negative comments against the government's performance in the political report are wrong. Wrong messages should not be disseminated through the political report trying to imply that attention has not been paid to work in a way to provide direct relief to the people," Thapa has stated in his recommendation. "It has been mentioned otherwise even when potholes in the roads of capital have been filled in a campaign. That should be removed and made fact-based."
Stating that the past exercise of two terms of executive chief and mandatory retirement at the age of 70 years should be mentioned, he has opined that removing the positive and established provisions made on the basis of long experience after unification will be wrong.
