Ruling CPN is preparing to issue whip to enforce the party decision to name Province 3 Bagmati and make Hetauda the provincial capital.
Secretariat meeting of the party on December 29 had decided to name the province Bagmati and make Hetauda of Makwanpur the capital.
But CPN leaders from the province have expressed dissatisfaction with Hetauda being made the capital with party chairmen KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and some lawmakers have even threatened to reject the party decision.
The party is now preparing to issue whip to enforce the decision. "There were obviously debates and discussions inside the party. Lawmakers have also opposed the decision. We have expressed our dissatisfaction. We have told the leaders about our positions," provincial assembly member from CPN Pashupati Chaulagai told Setopati. "Whip will now be issued to implement the party decision on the name and capital of the province as impractical as it is."
The majority of CPN lawmakers in the province have opposed the decision calling it impractical and unconstitutional.
The parliamentary party meeting of CPN in the province has been called for Thursday morning to take decision on the issue.
CPN lawmaker in the province Laxman Lamsal expressed confidence that the parliamentary party will reconsider the issue as the majority of lawmakers are not happy with the decision.
Lamsal and others contend that Hetauda will be far away from most parts of the province and claim Kavre will be the most appropriate pick for capital on all accounts when Kathmandu Valley cannot be picked as one as it borders eight of the 13 districts in the province.
CPN has two-third majority in the 110-strong provincial assembly with 80 seats.
