Standing committee meeting of Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN has concluded that the government does not want to hold dialogue.
The meeting that finished a few days back has accused the government of oppressing and arresting the party cadres by spreading rumors of dialogue, and decided to retaliate against that, a party source confided with Setopati.
Politburo member Anil Sharma, and central members Maila Lama and Guna Raj Lohani all were taking initiative for dialogue through different contacts.
The party source claimed that Lohani was taking initiative for dialogue through Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Lama through central member of the ruling CPN Surendra Pandey.
"We tried to put our views to Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli through CPN secretariat member Madhav Kumar Nepal and coordinator of the government dialogue team Som Prasad Pandey. But we found that the government was not serious for dialogue," the source added.
The source stated that the Chand-led CPN also tried to initiate dialogue through advocate close to the party Ek Raj Bhandari and journalist Prakash Dumre but to no avail.
The standing committee, according to the source, deeming that the government is not serious for dialogue concluded that there is no alternative to resisting the government oppression.
The meeting also concluded that there is widespread corruption in all three levels of government, and decided to instruct the party cadres to strengthen its organization at all three levels and intensify interactions with the people.
The party has also decided to prune the 51-strong central committee to 38 to make the organization more agile.
The Chand-led CPN has five-strong standing committee including Chand, Khadka Bahadur Bishwokarma, Dharmendra Bastola, Santosh Buda Magar and Hemanta Prakash Oli who is currently at Nakkhu Jail.
