CPN Chairman and Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli has claimed that his party will secure two-third majority in the next general election.
"Some cannot stand even our current majority (which is just short of two-third). But we will get two-third majority in the next general election because we are doing good works for the people," Oli stated addressing a program organized in Balkhu on Friday to mark the death anniversary of Madan Bhandari and Jeev Raj Aashrit.
He accused the opposition of opposing on trivial issues to divert public attention from the government's good works. "They opposed use of the term my government by the president while presenting the government's policies and programs after not finding anything bad in it," he argued. "We started investigation of the government land in Baluwatar but we were attacked. The government is investigating what happened to that land since 1992 but we are being accused. We stopped gold smuggling but we are being slammed. We have been taking action against the corrupts at the top level but again we have been attacked."
He reiterated his claim that he will not indulge in corruption and not allow others to do so. "Some resort to swearing at times," he took swipe at Nepali Congress (NC) lawmakers. "But I state this with challenge—I will not indulge in corruption and not allow others to do so."
NC lawmaker Min Bishwokarma recently had asked in the parliament about how much PM Oli will take in commission now that he has kept big projects under the PM's office.
"I am baffled how Congress that calls itself the oldest party does not care about democratic norms and values. The protests a few days back was not against president but against the republican system and institutions," he claimed alleging the opposition of having a narrow view.
He also warned CPN leaders and cadres to not give emotional statements meandering far from the facts in the context of party unification. "It is not appropriate to publicly state internal issues in rage," he said. "This is not time to have small heart and feel hurt as we are trying to intermingle the two parties in a way that they are never separated."
