The special committee for parliamentary hearing has received four complaints against Om Prakash Mishra who has been recommended for the post of chief justice.
The complaints accuse him of registering public land in the name of individuals and connivance in tax evasion of Ncell through an interim order among others.
The Parliament Secretariat has yet to open the complaints. The meeting of the special committee has been called for Friday. The committee will call Mishra for hearing after studying the complaints and holding discussions with the complainants.
He has been accused of taking bribe in the case of former DIG of Armed Police Force (APF) Ranjan Koirala. Sabitri Subedi, who is currently campaigning against rape, has accused Mishra of reducing jail term of Koirala convicted for murder of his wife. Subedi and a few others even demonstrated against Mishra at Maitighar Mandala on Wednesday.
He has also been accused of giving a verdict in favor of his relative and giving clean chit to four accused including one Dilli Swar in Kalikot. "I demand that he be stopped from becoming chief justice as justice will end if such a corrupt person is appointed one," the complainants have requested.
The complainants have also raised questions about Mishra's migration as his educational certificates are from India. They have complained that he has not even got equivalence certified.
He has been accused of giving an order of registering 36 ropanis and six annas of land in Handigaun worth around Rs 2 billion in the name of a fake tenant.
The complainants have accused him of connivance in tax evasion of Ncell by taking tens of millions in bribe and in tax evasion of Surya Nepal.
The Constitutional Council had recommended Mishra for the post on August 23. Mishra has been recommended after the special committee for parliamentary hearing rejected Dipak Raj Joshi who was recommended earlier.
