The border points with China at Rasuwagadhi and Tatopani, that had become irregular after landslides obstructed roads, have again become operational from Monday.
Chief of Rasuwagadhi Customs Office Punya Bikram Khadka told Setopati tht freight trucks have started to arrive. China had allowed only medical supplies and electronics in the intervening period and trucks with readymade garments and other stuffs have also started to arrive from Monday.
"More than 30 container trucks arrived daily. The border point is now back to full operation," Khadka stated. He revealed that goods need not be unloaded at the border point and again loaded on Nepali trucks as earlier and trucks with goods can directly arrive to Kathmandu.
The Tatopani border point in Sindhupalchowk is also back in operation after around one and a half months of not seeing any container truck with goods.
Nepali and Chinese border officials on September 30 had agreed to bring the Tatopani border point into operation. The Tatopani Customs Office said over 10 container trucks have arrived through the border point today.
Customs staffers and workers involved in loading/unloading of goods at both the border points were already tested for COVID-19.
