Two more bodies were recovered on Sunday during the search operation inside the tunnel of the under-construction Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project in Rasuwa.
The project said that two additional bodies were found and brought out of the tunnel during the ongoing search and rescue operation.
On Saturday, two bodies were retrieved from the downstream side of the tunnel’s descender basin. The rescue team also successfully rescued a Chinese national alive and unharmed from inside the tunnel on Saturday.
Bodies have been recovered continuously from the project site since Thursday. A body with one leg was found on Thursday, while the bodies of six more people were recovered on Friday.
None of the bodies recovered so far has been identified, as they are in an unrecognizable condition.
Authorities suspect that around 300 people may still be trapped inside the tunnel. The search and rescue operation has been challenging because of the complex and dangerous conditions inside the tunnel.
To make the search and rescue efforts more effectives, a Korean team, Sherpa rescuers, and search-drone teams have been deployed along with the Nepal Army. Specially trained dogs and advanced cameras are also being used.
The project said that the search and rescue operation for those still missing is continuing.
