The curfew that was clamped in Manma, the headquarters of Kalikot district after the death of one temporary police personnel has been lifted.
The local administration clamped the curfew on Saturday in view of the prevailing tense situation following the death of Bibek Aidi in police firing on Friday. The curfew was clamped from 4 pm on Saturday after the demonstrators and the temporary police personnel, who were protesting Aidi's death, started burning tyres and pelting stones in front of the District Administration Office when the talks were in progress.
The curfew was lifted after the committee formed under Joint Secretary at Ministry of Home Affairs Man Bahadur BK to probe into Aidi's death reached Kalitkot.
Chief District Officer Badrinath Gaire informed that the curfew was lifted at 7 am Monday. "The committee is consulting the victim's family," he said.
He further said that the local administration has declared the prohibited zone at Kalikot although curfew has been lifted.
The government has decided to compensate the bereaved families with Rs 25,00,000.
