The Drinking Water and Sanitation Program in various six landless squatters' settlements in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur districts were found to be very effective, claimed MinErgy.
The programs were launched in Bhimmuktishwor, Shantinagar, Jagritinagar, Dhaukhel and Pathibhara of Kathmandu district and in Manohara in Bhaktapur district with the support from UNICEF Nepal.
It was shared at a program organized by MinErgy here Wednesday that various physical infrastructures relating to drinking water and sanitation were constructed since April this year besides running awareness drive in those settlements.
MinErgy's Program Coordinator Swasti Joshi said that the program was launched to create basic awareness about drinking water and sanitation, and to help mitigate issues relating to the environmental pollution.
Joshi shared that water filters and biogas plants were installed in various settlements while model toilets were also built in those settlements.
The participants of the program drew the attention of the concerned authorities and NGOs toward the poor conditions of sanitation and drinking water in many landless squatters' settlements in the capital.
