Counting in 32 districts that went for voting in the first phase of federal and provincial assembly elections on November 26 has started at five Thursday evening. Voting for 37 federal and 74 provincial constituencies was held 11 days ago and the ballot boxes were kept safely at the respective district headquarters.
All-party consensus on counting has already been reached in those districts and all the formalities were completed before five in the evening, according to the office of the chief returning officers in those districts.
Chief Returning Officer of Manang Deepak Dhakal said all-party consensus was reached after a meeting on Wednesday and arrangements have been made for counting at three places in a way to announce results by Friday morning.
The counting spot has been fenced with wire netting at most of the places.
The remaining 45 districts have gone for voting in the second phase on Thursday. Counting in the majority of places where voting was done today including Kathmandu will start Friday morning, according to the chief returning officers there.
