The Election Commission (EC) says voter turnout in the second phase of federal and provincial assembly elections in 45 districts is 33 percent by 11 Thursday morning
Polling started from seven Thursday morning. Those who get into the queue for voting by five in the evening will be allowed to vote, according to the EC.
The candidates are fighting in 128 federal constituencies and 256 provincial constituencies in the first past the post (FPTP) system in the second phase of polls.
The EC has said the voters can vote by producing their citizenship certificate or any identity card with photograph issued by the government if they do not have voter identity cards. The EC has directed the polling officers to give priority to people with disabilities, pregnant women, elderly, and sick voters to cast vote.
A total of 32 mountainous and hilly districts had already gone for voting on November 26. The ballot boxes of the first phase election have been collected at the respective district headquarters and kept under three-tier security for 11 days. Counting will start together across the country after voting in the second phase concludes later on the day.
