Polling in the second phase of federal and provincial assembly elections has started in 45 districts from seven Thursday morning. Those who get into the queue for voting by five in the evening will be allowed to vote, according to the Election Commission (EC).
The candidates are fighting in 128 federal constituencies and 256 provincial constituencies in the first past the post (FPTP) system in the second phase of polls.
The EC has said the voters can vote by producing their citizenship certificate or any identity card with photograph issued by the government if they do not have voter identity cards. The EC has directed the polling officers to give priority to people with disabilities, pregnant women, elderly, and sick voters to cast vote.
Top leaders of the main political parties have cast vote early in the morning. CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman and left alliance candidate for federal parliament from Chitwan-3 Pushpa Kamal Dahal has already cast vote.

Senior Nepali Congress (NC) leader Ram Chandra Paudel, who is contesting for federal parliament from Tanahu-1, has also cast vote from Satyavati polling center in Damauli, Tanahu. Other senior leaders have also cast their vote from their respective polling stations.
A total of 32 mountainous and hilly districts had already gone for voting on November 26. The ballot boxes of the first phase election have been collected at the respective district headquarters and kept under three-tier security for 11 days. Counting will start together across the country after voting in the second phase concludes later on the day.
