CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has claimed that in the November 26 first phase of elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies, two-third votes were cast in favor of the left alliance.
During his address to an election assembly organized at Meghauli of western Chitwan Tuesday, he claimed that the alliance was going to win two-third seats in the first phase and the same would happen in the second round as well.
Stating that the left alliance would rule in Nepal for the next 50 years, he said the left rule would lead the country towards prosperity and political stability.
The former Prime Minister who is contesting in the House of Representatives election representing the left alliance from the Chitwan-3 pledged to take the country towards progress and prosperity being based on the mandates of the voters in Chitwan.
According to him, he, one of the signatories of the Comprehensive Peace Accord, is alive and (the late) Girija Prasad Koirala once had said "Dahal is necessary for the nation."
The then NC President Koirala and Dahal were among the signatories of the CPA that had formally put an end to the country's decade-long armed conflict and brought the then rebelling Maoists to the mainstream politics.
"Though Girija Babu is not with us physically, I internalize that it is my responsibility to materialize his dream and for that, I need votes of the Chitwan locals," Dahal said.
