Rabi Lamichhane, president of the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has said that action will be taken against those who parked private vehicles to obstruct roads outside media houses and the homes of political leaders.
He also described such actions as an "abnormal tendency."
On Monday, private vehicles were found parked outside the offices of Kantipur Media Group, Onlinekhabar, and other media organizations, as well as on the road leading to the residence of Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa. Police removed the vehicles, and some of the owners have already been fined and released.
Journalists questioned Lamichhane about the incidents on Tuesday at Singha Durbar.
In response, Lamichhane said that the party had already issued a statement on the matter. He added that if any RSP leaders or workers are found to be involved, they will face action. He also said that the incidents should be investigated and those responsible held accountable.
When journalist Keshav Raj Joshi asked whether RSP leaders or workers would also be punished if found responsible, Lamichhane replied: "Why wouldn't they be? Is that even a question? The RSP is the party that took action against its own lawmaker within 72 hours. Whoever is involved will face action."
