Outgoing Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba has appealed to party members not to participate in the convention being organized according to the schedule announced by the special general convention supporters.
In an appeal issued on Tuesday, Deuba said that since he was elected president at the party’s 14th general convention, he should be allowed to organize and complete the 15th general convention.
“Personally, I have no desire for any position or responsibility. I no longer have any ambition to attain any position. However, if the state and the Nepali Congress deem it necessary to use my experience, I will not step back from discharging my responsibilities until the last moment of my life,” he said. “As the president elected by general convention representatives from across the country through the duly completed 14th general convention of the Nepali Congress, it is my legal, political, and moral responsibility to complete the 15th general convention and hand over the leadership of the party, and fulfilling that is my duty too.”
Deuba also said that the supporters of the special general convention were rushing to hold the general convention despite the possibility of reaching an agreement.
He urged party members to participate in the 15th general convention scheduled for December 7 to 9.
