The central committee meeting of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has been postponed.
The central executive committee meeting held on May 15 had decided to convene a central committee meeting on June 11 and 12. That same meeting had tasked General Secretary Dhawal Shumsher Rana and others with proposing a schedule for the party's general convention.
However, on May 31, Rana and 185 other individuals holding various positions at different levels have left the party.
Amid the changed circumstances within the party, the central committee meeting has been rescheduled.
“The previously scheduled meeting of the RPP central committee has been postponed by a few days. The meeting, which was earlier set for June 11 and 12, will now be held in Kathmandu on June 19 and 20 due to special reasons,” party spokesperson Mohan Shrestha said.
The meeting is expected to include the presentation of political, economic, and secretariat-related reports.
According to Shrestha, the meeting will review current political developments, discuss the party’s views on constitutional amendments, organizational strengthening, conventions at all levels, preparations for the party’s general convention, and also determine the date for the general convention.
Party Chairman Rajendra Lingden also confirmed that the central committee meeting will take place on June 19 and 20.
"The meeting will discuss and decide on the date for the general convention and other contemporary issues," he said.
While the RPP is busy preparing for its general convention, Rana is working with Durga Prasai to form a new political party.
