The central disciplinary committee of the Nepali Congress has issued a warning to party leader Purna Bahadur Khadka.
A meeting held on Wednesday at the party’s central office in Sanepa decided to caution Khadka.
Khadka had issued a statement on March 28 in his capacity as acting party president.
The statement was related to the arrest of former prime minister KP Sharma Oli and former home minister Ramesh Lekhak.
"A decision has been made to warn him for issuing an unauthorized statement on March 27.," said Taraman Gurung, Coordinator of the Discipline Committee, referring to Khadka.
“Since he issued an unauthorized statement on March 28, a decision has been made to caution him. If he engages in further misconduct, legal action will proceed according to the party statute,” said disciplinary committee coordinator Tara Man Gurung, referring to Khadka.
The faction aligned with former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba has been carrying out parallel activities under Khadka’s leadership.
Gurung also said that the committee has received 507 complaints related to the House of Representatives election held on March 5.
Complaints have been filed against those who ran as independent candidates, acted as proposers or seconders for rivals, actively campaigned against party candidates, helped the opposition, remained neutral without seeking votes for the party, or supported the opposition despite being elected representatives on a Congress ticket.
Gurung said that those facing complaints have been asked to submit clarification within seven days.
