Nepal has called for resolving tensions in the Middle East region through diplomacy and dialogue.
Issuing a press statement on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Nepal expresses its deep concern over the evolving situation in the Middle East and is closely observing the developments there.
“Nepal urges all parties concerned to exercise maximum restraint, refrain from further escalating tensions, and ensure the protection of civilians,” the ministry said in the statement. “Nepal calls for resolving the differences through diplomacy and dialogue.”
It emphasized that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states should be respected in line with the UN Charter and international law. Nepal views that the rules-based international order and the responsibility of maintaining international peace and security should be upheld, the statement further said.
Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in air strikes carried out by the United States and Israel on Saturday.
In retaliation, Iran has been launching missile and drone attacks targeting US military bases in the Gulf and Middle Eastern countries.
Iran has been carrying out attacks in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and other countries.
A large number of Nepalis are working in those countries.
Nepal has urged Nepalis there to remain safe and maintain continuous contact with the embassy.
