A total of 175 candidates from various political parties have withdrawn their names from the proportional representation (PR) closed lists.
The largest number of withdrawals comes from the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP), with all 110 of its candidates withdrawing their names from the party’s closed list. The withdrawals come after the party’s unification with the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal.
Among those who withdrew their names from the LSP, 32 candidates have been included in the JSP Nepal’s proportional closed list.
Twenty candidates from the Janamat Party have withdrawn their names, while 12 candidates from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) withdrawn their names from the proportional list.
Six candidates from the Janadesh Party Nepal, five from the CPN-UML, four from the CPN (Maoist), and four from the Rastra Nirman Dal Nepal have also withdrawn their candidacies.
Only two candidates each from the Nepali Congress and the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have withdrawn their names.
Ten candidates from other parties have also withdrawn from the race.
