The Nepali Congress has decided to form a political alliance with other parties for the National Assembly elections scheduled for January 25.
The decision was finalized during a meeting of the central working committee held at the party’s central office on Tuesday, according to Krishna Prasad Paudel, chief secretary of the NC central office.
"The Nepali Congress decides to ally with other political parties for the election of National Assembly members to be held on Sunday, January 25," said a notice issued by Paudel.
The Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Nepali Communist Party (CPN), and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal have reached an agreement to form an alliance for the election. NC’s acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka and central member Ramesh Lekhak had been leading continuous negotiations with the other parties.
During Tuesday’s meeting, acting president Khadka briefed the committee on the talks held with the other parties.
He said that the next meeting of the working committee is scheduled for 9 a.m on Wednesday.
General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa and Joint General Secretaries Farmullah Mansur and Jeevan Pariyar also shared their views during Tuesday’s meeting.
