The Nepali Congress central working committee has passed a new schedule to hold the party's regular general convention from May 11 to 14.
Party spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat said that the committee’s meeting held on Friday approved the revised schedule.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Mahat said, “Since it was not possible to hold the general convention on the dates proposed in January, a revised schedule has been approved. Accordingly, the regular general convention will be held on May 11, 12, 13, and 14.”
According to the approved schedule, lower-level conventions will begin on April 4, Mahat said.
During the meeting, acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka had presented a proposal to conclude the 15th general convention by May 14.
According to the new schedule, ward-level conventions will begin on April 4, followed by municipal conventions on April 8.
Provincial assembly constituency-level conventions are scheduled for April 11, while district conventions with only one House of Representatives constituency will be held on April 15, and those with two or more constituencies on April 18.
The schedule also includes holding provincial conventions from April 23 to 25, and concluding the central general convention by May 14.
