Jhapa district has the highest representation in the proportional representation (PR) list submitted by the CPN-UML to the Election Commission.
Jhapa also has the largest number of representatives in the party’s central committee. A total of 26 central committee members are from Jhapa, including party Chairman KP Sharma Oli. From Oli’s own constituency, Jhapa-5, there are 14 representatives, including commission members.
In the closed PR list submitted to the Election Commission on December 29, nine candidates represent Jhapa. They are Anita Subba, Bidyananda Rajbanshi, Narmada Devi Shiwakoti, Menuka Kafle, Lata Prasai, Nita Ghatani, Jitu Darji Gautam, Som Portel, and Bina Sah Mahato.
Kathmandu follows Jhapa with seven representatives: Lucky Sherpa, Mina Baramu, Kulbhakta Shakya, Buddhabhakta Chitrakar, Sanumaiya Khadka, Mayadevi Podeni, and Nirmal Deula Pode.
Dhanusha also has seven representatives, including Urmila Devi Paswan, Yashoda Kumari Yadav, Manju Mahato, Renu Sah, Arvind Sah, Ram Charitra Sah, and Chandreshwar Yadav.
Palpa has four representatives – Heerasara Rana, Om Bahadur Gharti, Thaneshwar Prasad Basyal, and Roji Khatun.
Kailali also has four representatives: Leela Kumari Bhandari, Harishankar Yogi, Ichchha Kumari Chaudhary, and Sabitra Ghimire.
Similarly, Chitwan has four representatives: Ram Bahadur Thapa Magar, Santa Bahadur Praja, Prabha Baral, and Yam Bahadur Pariyar.
Dhading has three representatives – Ganga Devi Shrestha, Kranti Burlakoti, and Dr Pushpa Kandel. Kavrepalanchowk is represented by Bhakta Kumari Lama, Sumitra Rajbanshi, and Indra Bahadur Tamang.
Dang, the home district of General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, also has three representatives – Komal Oli, Shanta Chaudhary, and Sajida Siddiqui.
Siraha is represented by Asha Kumari Yadav, Chandreshwar Mandal, and Rajesh Agrawal, while Rautahat is represented by Anshu Singh, Babita Das Karn, and Sachchitanand Sah.
The closed list has two representatives each from Lalitpur, Morang, Udayapur, Lamjung, Kaski, Syangja, Kanchanpur, Kalikot, Parbat, Banke, Kapilvastu, Bara, Sarlahi, Achham, and Bajhang.
Thirty districts including Panchthar, Ilam, Khotang, Sunsari, Myagdi, Dhankuta, and Mustang have one representative each on the list.
There are no representatives from 21 districts.
According to the list submitted to the Election Commission, there are representatives from a total of 56 districts, while 21 districts have no candidates at all. The districts without representatives include Taplejung, Tehrathum, Okhaldhunga, Rasuwa, Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha, Makawanpur, Gorkha, Manang, Baglung, Nawalpur (Nawalparasi East), Rupandehi, Salyan, West Rukum, Dailekh, Dolpa, Jumla, Bajura, Doti, Dadeldhura, and Baitadi.
However, Mina Baramu, listed under Kathmandu, actually represents Gorkha. She was elected as a representative from Gorkha during the party’s 11th general convention and had previously contested for the post of vice-chair of Arughat Rural Municipality.
