Kulman Ghising has joined the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) following an agreement to make him the party’s top-ranked vice-president.
With this agreement, Rabi Lamichhane, Balen Shah, and Ghising have ultimately come together under one party.
According to the fourth point of the seven-point agreement signed on Monday, the RSP will now have three vice-presidents, including Ghising.
The agreement itselfKulman Ghising joins RSP as top-ranked vice-president after seven-point agreement does not explicitly mention seniority. However, Ghising’s name appears first, followed by Dol Prasad Aryal and then Swarnim Wagle in third position.
Previously, when there were only two vice-presidents, Aryal ranked first in seniority, followed by Wagle.
“Rabi Lamichhane will be the central president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, and Kulman Ghising, DP Aryal, and Swarnim Wagle will be the vice-presidents,” states Point No. 4 of the agreement.
The agreement was signed on Monday night by RSP President Lamichhane on behalf of the party and by Anup Kumar Upadhyay, chairperson of the Ujyalo Nepal Party, on behalf of Ghising. Balen Shah signed as a witness.
Shah and the RSP have already reached an agreement to make Shah the party’s prime ministerial candidate in the upcoming election. When the agreement was signed between Shah and RSP President Lamichhane on Sunday, Ghising was not involved.
After that, the two held repeated negotiations with Ghising before reaching an agreement on Monday.
Following the meeting between Ghising and Lamichhane on Monday, the two agreed to move forward by submitting a closed list of candidates for proportional representation from the same party.
