Deputy General Secretary of CPN (Maoist Center) Janardan Sharma has demanded resignation of Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal putting forward a 16-point proposal.
In his proposal on the synthesis of the Gen Z movement and the future path, he has called for Dahal's resignation from chairmanship.
"The main leadership of the party must resign immediately," Sharma has stressed.
He has also demanded a commission under leadership of an independent individual to investigate wealth of party leaders.
A leader close to Sharma told Setopati that the deputy general secretary has initiated discussions about the proposal within the party.
"The deputy general secretary has put forward a 16-point proposal, and there are now preparations to bring this issue into party discussion. Some talks have already begun among leaders," said the source. "He will move forward based on the suggestions that come from within the party."
KP Sharma Oli resigned as prime minister, and an interim government led by former chief justice Sushila Karki has been formed following the Gen Z protests on September 8 and 9.
There have been calls for a change in leadership and for the transformation of major political parties following the Gen Z movement.
Sharma's proposal:
1. The positive aspects of the Gen Z movement should be synthesized, as it has attacked the entrenched corrupt politics and culture.
2. It has exposed all facets of party politics, leader-centric systems, a commission-based system, and brokerage, thus opening a new path for the country to move forward.
3. An environment conducive to elections should be created by supporting the current government.
4. To implement the long-standing demand for investigation of wealth within the party, a commission should be formed under leadership of an independent individual.
5. A high-level commission should be demanded from the current government to investigate the properties of all retired individuals who have held public positions since 1990 and to look into the loss of life and property during the Gen Z movement.
6. The main leadership of the party must resign immediately.
7. The leadership election system should be moved toward a directly elected model.
8. A solid and clear policy should be established on how many times a person can hold a particular position.
9. A political debate should be initiated to end the current electoral system and form the Parliament through a fully proportional representation system.
10. The concept of a directly elected executive president should be strongly advocated.
11. A clear vision should be developed to solve the problems of Dalit women within the party.
12. Incidents of cultural deviation and sexual anarchy should be investigated.
13. A policy for the protection of martyrs' families, missing persons, wounded warriors, the disabled, and the elderly should be decided.
14. A campaign should be started to make everyone self-employed through the party's policies, plans, and programs related to labor and economic production.
15. As nationalism is in serious crisis, the party ranks should be kept vigilant to protect it.
16. To achieve the above goals, an organization should be built accordingly.
