It has been decided to provide Rs 1 million each to the families of those who died during the protests that took place across the country, including in Kathmandu, on September 8 and 9.
The decision was announced during Prime Minister Sushila Karki’s address after she assumed office on Sunday.
It was also announced that those who died during the protests will be declared martyrs.

It was also announced during the address that the government will provide free treatment to those injured in the protests.
During the protests called by Gen Z youths on September 8, security personnel opened fire when protestors reached the Parliament building.
The number of deaths during the protests has reached 72.
Of these, 59 are protestors, 10 are prisoners, and 3 are police personnel, it was announced.
Similarly, 191 people, including 134 protestors and 57 police personnel, are undergoing treatment.
It was also informed during the address that the relevant ministries have been instructed to collect details of the damages.
On September 8, Gen Z youths held protests across the country against corruption and mismanagement and the ban on social media platforms.
Following the deaths of 19 people that day, Singha Durbar, the Parliament building, government offices, police stations, homes of political leaders, and other structures across the country were subjected to arson and vandalism on September 9.
