Younger members of the House of Representatives have been meeting online to discuss the recent political developments.
They have been discussing how to address the demands of the Gen Z movement and find a solution. The lawmakers also discussed about collectively appealing to the Gen Z youth to find a way forward.
The discussion included Gagan Thapa, Bishwa Prakash Sharma, Chandra Bhandari, and Jiwan Pariyar of Nepali Congress (NC); Yogesh Bhattarai, Thakur Gaire, and Bidya Bhattarai of CPN-UML; Madhav Sapkota, Aman Lal Modi, and Rajan Dahal of CPN (Maoist Center); and Shishir Khanal of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
"We haven't held a meeting. We're having a discussion," says NC lawmaker Chandra Bhandari. "Discussions are taking place with lawmakers and leaders. Discussions are taking place with Janardan Sharma, Ghanshyam Bhusal, Minendra Rijal, and Gagan Thapa."
Sapkota has also confirmed about such talks. "Sometimes we talk one-on-one and sometimes we have collective discussions," says Maoist Center lawmaker Sapkota. "We have discussed that a solution must be found within the constitutional framework."
He has added that the lawmakers agreed that both the incidents on September 8 and 9 should be investigated.
"There was a discussion that the massacre of the first day and the destruction of the next day should be investigated," Sapkota has stated. "The destruction carried out by using the Gen Z as a cover must be taken seriously."
He has also stressed that there were also discussions about the smell of a 'baby king' and military rule under the guise of the Gen Z movement.
"The path of a 'baby king' and military rule is not possible," Sapkota has said. "We should talk to the Gen Z about moving toward a more advanced form of democracy."
He has revealed that the young lawmakers are in favor of finding a solution to the current problem through a constitutional and parliamentary process, even though dissolving the House and going to elections is an option.
"The issues of good governance that the Gen Z are raising can be resolved positively from within the House right away. This is an issue that we have also been raising," Sapkota has said. "After that, the House can be dissolved to seek a fresh mandate. The solution to the problem must come from within the House. The demands of the Gen Z can be addressed by the House itself."
Sapkota has also said that inter-party, individual, and collective discussions are ongoing among the lawmakers.
