The CPN (Maoist Center) has sent a circular to its subordinate committees, stating that the standing committee meeting dismissed the allegations made by Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma against Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Issuing a circular on the standing committee meeting's decisions to lower-level committees on Thursday, the Maoist Center noted that Deputy General Secretary Sharma refused to engage in self-criticism.
"The standing committee meeting held serious discussions regarding the public statements and activities of the party’s central Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma 'Prabhakar' in relation to strengthening internal party unity. During the discussions, it was concluded that actions such as making public statements against party policy and leadership, refusing to sign on minutes as a deputy general secretary in the office-bearers' meeting, and engaging in factional activities were against party policy. Standing committee members urged Prabhakar to engage in self-criticism regarding those activities and correct the mistakes. The chairman made a special request until the end of the meeting for Prabhakar to accept the suggestions and criticisms of the standing committee members and rectify the errors. However, Comrade Prabhakar did not concretely engage in self-criticism on any issues except for not signing on minutes," the circular stated.
The circular further noted that Deputy General Secretary Sharma instead made baseless allegations against the party leadership.
"Therefore, the standing committee meeting dismissed the baseless allegations against the party leadership and decided to issue a stern warning to Prabhakar, directing him not to engage in such statements and activities in the future," it stated.
The circular also noted that the standing committee meeting assured that there is freedom to discuss differing opinions within the committee according to rules and emphasized moving forward with party unity.
The Maoist Center's standing committee meeting was held from last Friday to Sunday.
During the standing committee meeting, Sharma had demanded a special general convention of the party. He had also raised questions about rumors of a party split being spread by the leadership itself and the non-implementation of central committee decisions. He had said that he was accused of trying to lead the party toward a split while raising questions about party building.
