The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has summoned Rajkumar Gupta, who resigned as minister for federal affairs and general administration after an audio allegedly involving him negotiating a Rs 7.8 million “bribe deal” was made public.
The anti-corruption body has called former minister Gupta for a voice test.
"Preparations are underway to summon former minister Gupta for questioning and a voice test on Tuesday," a source at the CIAA said, adding, "This is part of the investigation process."
Former minister Gupta has repeatedly said that he is ready for a voice test and also claimed that the voice in the audio is not his.
Gupta resigned as minister on July 15 after being implicated in the “bribe deal” audio.
The audio allegedly involves Gupta seeking a Rs 2.5 million bribe to appoint the chair of the Land Commission in Kaski and a Rs 5.3 million bribe to stop the transfer of the then-chief of the Land Revenue Office, Kaski.
