Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli has left for China leading a jumbo team of 119 including four ministers Tuesday morning. He left on a chartered flight of Himalaya Airlines at 8:30 in the morning.
Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali, Energy Minister Barsha Man Pun, Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Raghubir Mahaseth, Chief Advisor to PM Bishnu Rimal, lawmakers, top government officials, businessmen, journalists and others have accompanied Oli.
PM Oli will have a bilateral meeting with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in China. He will meet senior Chinese leaders and address the Nepal China Business Forum and intellectuals in Beijing, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Secretary at the ministry Shankar Das Bairagi said PM Oli will hold discussion and sign on memoranda of understanding on infrastructure and energy projects under the Belt and Road Initiative put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping, and about investment, tourism and other projects.
“The visit of PM Oli has been prepared putting the government’s aim of achieving socioeconomic development and prosperity at the center,” he stated. He added the visit aims to broaden the scope of bilateral cooperation.
PM Oli is also scheduled to visit Lhasa of Tibet Autonomous Region. He will meet provincial leaders there.
He will return back on June 24.
