There is confusion on issuance of pension book of former chief justice (CJ) Gopal Parajuli in lack of clarity about his date of retirement.
The Department of Civil Personnel Records has written to the Judicial Council and the Supreme Court (SC) administration for clarity on the issue of his retirement that is necessary for making the pension book.
Secretary of the Judicial Council Nripa Dhwaj Niraula had sacked Parajuli on March 14 on the issue of age dispute. Parajuli was relieved of duty on the issue of age dispute by secretary Niraula stating he crossed the age limit of 65 years on August 5, 2017. Parajuli had resigned on March 15 a day after he was sacked.
Parajuli had applied with the department a few days back for his pension book and the Judicial Council has also written to the department asking the latter for the same. But while Parajuli has stated that he retired on March 15 after his resignation, the Judicial Council has reiterated that he was relieved of duty on August 5, 2017 after crossing the age limit.
Director at the department Rajendra Parajuli confirmed that it has written to the Judicial Council and the SC administration for clarity after different details about former CJ Prajuli's date of retirement in his application and the letter written by the Judicial Council.
Secretary Niraula told Setopati that he has again replied informing the department that Parajuli's term ended on August 5, 2017.
The Judicial Council keeps all the records about justices but the department has to make the pension book of even the justices.
