The 550 provincial assembly members across the seven provinces will all be sworn in on Sunday with preparations on for administering the oath of office in Biratnagar, Janakpur, Hetauda, Pokhara, Butwal, Surkhet and Dhangadi respectively.
The swearing-in ceremonies were reportedly scheduled for 11 in the morning but provincial members have not all made to their respective temporary capitals yet.
The swearing-in ceremony in Province 1 will be held at Birendra Sabhagriha in Biratnagar. Provincial Chief Govinda Subba will first administer the oath of office to the oldest assembly member who in turn will administer it to the rest of the members, according to Chief District Officer (CDO) of Morang Ram Prasad Acharya. "We will administer oath of office to the oldest member in a while. Other members are also arriving. They will also be sworn in at around 11 am," CDO Acharya told Setopati.
The provincial assembly members were invited to temporary capitals for swearing-in ceremony only on Friday evening.
The swearing-in ceremony in Province 2 will be held at the conference hall of Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Janakpur. CDO of Dhanusha Dilip Kumar Chapagai said all preparations for the swearing-in ceremony have been completed.
CDO of Makwanpur Chakra Bahadur Buda said the oldest provincial assembly member of Province 3 will be sworn in at the office of the provincial chief in Hetauda. "We are preparing to administer the oath of office to the rest of members in the hall of Regional Education Directorate," he stated.
The swearing-in ceremony in Province 4 will be held at the hall of Municipal Development Training Center in Pokhara.
The swearing-in ceremony in Province 5 will be held at the hall of Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Butwal at 11 am, according to CDO of Rupandehi Hari Prasad Mainali.
Regional Administrator for Mid Western Region Suresh Pradhan said Provincial Chief of Province 6 Durga Keshar Khanal reached the temporary capital Surkhet only Sunday morning. "We are preparing for the swearing-in ceremony at the hall of District Coordination Committee," Pradhan added.
Provincial Chief of Province 7 Mohan Raj Malla, meanwhile, has yet to reach the temporary capital Dhangadi. Malla, who had flown to Kathmandu on Friday for his swearing-in, is going to Dhangadi by road as no flights could land n Nepalgunj and Dhangadi on Saturday.
"Provincial Chief may arrive at around noon. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the hall of District Coordination Committee once he arrives," CDO of Kailali Govinda Prasad Rizal said.
The provincial chief will first administer the oath of office to the oldest provincial assembly member in each province, and the oldest member will then administer it to the rest of the members.
