Family members of disappeared persons have said what they wanted was justice and punishment to the guilty, not any monetary support.
Speaking at a program organized by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) here Tuesday, they said, "The two transitional justice commissions have been just reviving their wounds."
They said it was very sad that no initiative was taken seriously for those who sacrifice their lives for republicanism as well as who were made to disappear even after the establishment of republicanism in the country.
They complained, "We have not received relief and where we have to go to get it. Investigation was not started even after submitting all documents. Children of the victims are deprived of education."
Conflict victim Uday Kumar Sah said that the condition of his father is still unknown and silence of the Commission has left them high and dry.
Similarly, another victim Padma Poudel questioned when and where they get justice while a victim Devendra Yadab blamed the Commission for playing with mental, physical and financial condition of victims.
Chairperson of Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons Lokendra Mallik said that initiative was underway for formulation of Act regarding relief to the family of disappeared persons.
NHRC member Sudeep Pathak said that it was necessary that all should be active to provide justice to the victims.
