CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has clarified he is not loitering around in Chitwan and has remained there with consent of CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli.
Speaking in a program organized by Agriculture Research Center on Tuesday, he refuted the news reports expressing suspicions about unification of Maoist Center with UML and assured that a strong government of left alliance will be formed.
"A strong government of communists will be formed. There are many media reports about uncertainty but I want to make it clear that they all are rumors," Dahal stated.
"I read in a newspaper this morning that I am loitering around. I don't have to say much but I have stayed here with consent of Oli. I have stayed here after he advised me to return after a couple of days. I am not dallying. It will take 2-3 days even for the Election Commission (EC) to finish all the works. I want to make it clear to ensure no one is misled," he added.
He is scheduled to return to Kathmandu in the afternoon and immediately meet Oli.
UML has grown suspicious due to Dahal’s comments while outside Kathmandu. “We had agreed to take turn to lead the government. I will discuss this issue in the meeting of coordination committee after returning to Kathmandu,” he said in Chitwan.
“UML was thinking about forming the government on its own as election results started to arrive believing that it will get a majority of its own. It started to talk about unification with us only after seeing that Nepali Congress (NC) was getting almost equal votes in proportional representation (PR) system,” he told his cadres in Kawasoti of Nawalparasi.
He then spoke about formation of the National Assembly and the increasing distance with Nepali Congress (NC) in Bhairahawa. He opined that the National Assembly cannot be vibrant without NC. He revealed that he told UML Chairman KP Oli to move forward by taking NC into confidence by ending the dispute about Single Transferable Vote system.
