Deputy Secretary-General of CPN-UML Bishnu Paudel has assured about the impending unification with CPN (Maoist Center) despite reports in the media raising doubts that all is not well within the left alliance.
"There are those who want the distance between the parties increased. People outside UML and Maoist Center are trying to increase the distance. They wish so but their efforts will fail," he stated.
He claimed that UML and Maoist Center also have the similar position on the system of election for National Assembly. Senior Nepali Congress (NC) leader Ram Chandra Paudel after the all-party meeting in Baluwatar
Friday morning claimed that Maoist Center is ready for use of Single Transferable Vote system for National Assembly.
UML has been firm in its stance of use of majority system for the National Assembly. But Maoist Center has not clearly put its position on the issue.
"The two parties share the position on the electoral system," Paudel claimed. "They are trying to look for a mall opening to put the wedge in to separate UML and Maoist Center. But that won't happen. They would better use that energy elsewhere," he stated.
He claimed that the decision of unification will also be made in a surprising fashion like the announcement of formation of the left alliance. He commented that the decision of Maoist Center demanding a solid decision on unification before formation of the new government has not been taken otherwise.
"When have we said that the unification process should be delayed? It should be done without any delay," Paudel said. "There are no doubts. People were surprised on the announcement of left alliance from Rastriya Sabha Griha. The unification process will also be concluded in the same manner. There is no confusion," he assured.
