Displaced residents who had scattered in fear after Prime Minister Balen Shah ordered the demolition of squatter settlements in Thapathali, Gairigaun, Sinamangal, Manohara, and other areas using security forces, are now gradually coming into contact.
After police made announcements via loudspeakers asking residents to vacate the settlements early Saturday morning, many moved with their belongings to different locations due to fear and confusion. Now, they are also arriving at Dasharath Stadium to register their details as squatters.
The government has set up help desks at the stadium to collect information on families unable to arrange accommodation and food for themselves. Arrangements have been made to accommodate such families in five different holding centers after collecting their information.
By 2 p.m. on Sunday, a total of 311 squatter families had arrived at the stadium and registered their details. Their data is being recorded by the High Powered Committee for Integrated Development of Bagmati Civilization (HPCIDBC) and the Kathmandu Valley Development Authority (KVDA).
Both bodies have set up separate desks in the western corner of the stadium for displaced families to fill out forms. The KVDA has recorded 146 families, while the HPCIDBC has recorded 165 families.
Separate desks have also been set up at the stadium for health check-ups and meal distribution, coordinated by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

After completing registration, landless and homeless families will be taken to five holding centers for management, said Kumar Simkhada, a social mobilizer at the HPCIDBC.
Compared to Saturday, the crowd has increased significantly. Most of those displaced from Thapathali have already arrived, while those from Sinamangal, Gairigaun, and Shantinagar have also begun arriving. Officials say the number of arrivals from these areas has surged since Sunday morning.
Regarding those who have registered their details, it remains to be categorized which families came from which settlements.
Among those who filled out forms on Saturday, 31 families were sent to Kirtipur. A holding center has been set up at the Satsang Bhawan in Kirtipur to house the displaced. As the facility was filled to capacity after accommodating the 31 families, accommodation for the remaining families was arranged elsewhere.
