Activists of the CPN (Majority) staged a protest in Kathmandu on Friday demanding the release of those accused of misbehaving with judges of the Janakpur High Court’s Birgunj bench.
Around 3:45 p.m. on Friday, CPN (Majority) central member Usha Kiran Kami and some others attempted to breach the restricted area at Maitighar in Kathmandu.
Seven individuals who tried to enter the restricted zone were taken into custody, said Superintendent of Police Apil Raj Bohara of the District Police Range, Kathmandu.
Those detained are members of the All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union (Revolutionary). They include the student organization’s central member Sarjan Pandey, central secretary Hari Bista, central general secretary Ushak Kiran Kami, Lalitpur district president Saksham BK, central member Jhalak BK, Kathmandu member Sarjan Kami, and central vice-president Pramod Singh.
On Thursday, three CPN (Majority) workers misbehaved with Judge Khusi Prasad Tharu by throwing ink at him while he was presiding over a hearing in the Birgunj bench of the Janakpur High Court.
Those arrested include 48-year-old Garbhu Mahato of Siraha, 43-year-old Padam Bahadur Magar of Sarlahi, and 38-year-old Kishor Kunwar alias Avinash of Pyuthan (currently residing in Lalitpur). Kunwar is a central member of the party.
It has emerged that Magar is a district in-charge while Mahato is a district liaison committee member.
Police are preparing to investigate them for indecent behavior as well as offenses under the Electronic Transactions Act.
