Four people have died in a vehicle accident in Indra Sarowar, Makawanpur.
The accident occurred along the Hetauda-Bhimphedi-Kulekhani-Phakhel road section at Sukaura, Indra Sarowar Rural Municipality-2. Four people died at the scene after the vehicle plunged off the road.
According to the District Police Office, Makawanpur, the passenger vehicle bearing the registration number Madhesh Province 03-001 Ja 0720 was traveling from Kathmandu to Birgunj when it fell approximately 1,000 meters from the road at around 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
Police said that there were eight people, including the driver, on board.
Immediately after receiving information about the accident, a team of 21 personnel, including an assistant sub-inspector from Khanikhet Police Post, police inspectors from the Area Police Office Bhimfedi and the District Traffic Police Office, Makawanpur, and traffic police, was deployed under the command of Superintendent of Police Shyam Bahadur Khatri from the District Police Office, Makawanpur.
Teams from the Armed Police Force and Nepal Army were also mobilized for the rescue operation.
The rescue teams recovered four injured people – two women and two men – and sent them to the district hospital for treatment.
Police said that the identities of the four people who died at the scene have yet to be established, and that further investigation into the accident was underway.
