The Supreme Court (SC) has paved the way for implementation of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) decision to revoke the license of Nepal Satellite Telecom owned by Ajey Raj Sumargi.
The NTA on August 19 had revoked the license of Sumargi's company. The NTA before that had given the company a final deadline of mid-June to pay the amount. The NTA had then extended the deadline till August 18 and decided that the company's license would be revoked if the amount were not paid even by then.
Sumargi had moved the SC instead of exercising the option of appealing with the government within 35 days of revocation of the license. The SC has refused to issue the interim order as demanded by Sumargi pointing that the company had dallied instead of paying the amount determined by the NTA.
"The aggrieved person does have an option of appealing with the government in case of license revocation. To face action and result in accordance to the law is normal and regular process when one dallies and does not pay the amount one has to," the SC has stated explaining the decision to not issue an interim order.
