The Nepali Congress faction led by outgoing party president Sher Bahadur Deuba has formed four committees for its 15th general convention and appointed their coordinators.
Former general secretary Shashank Koirala, who is coordinator of the 15th general convention preparation committee, has formed the central election committee, membership management committee, disciplinary committee, and statute drafting committee, and appointed coordinators for each.
According to Deepak Prasad Kuikel, head of the secretariat coordination committee, coordinators have so far been appointed for four committees.
Egaraj Pokharel has been appointed coordinator of the election committee, Kiran Raj Sharma of the membership management committee, Padma Narayan Chaudhary of the disciplinary committee, and Shiva Humagain of the statute drafting committee.
The Deuba faction is preparing to hold ward-level conventions on October 1. The deadline for obtaining new active membership is September 25. Kuikel said that those who participated in the 14th general convention and renewed their membership by December 25 last year will also be eligible to participate in the conventions.
The Deuba faction plans to hold its central general convention from December 7 to 9.
Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress has announced that it will hold its 15th general convention from October 2 to 5 at Khula Manch. The process will begin with ward-level conventions on September 19 and 20.
