Former prime minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has filed a petition at the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
On Thursday, UML central member Mahesh Bartaula met with NHRC Chairman Top Bahadur Magar at the commission’s office in Harihar Bhawan, Pulchowk, and formally registered the petition on behalf of Oli.
In the petition, he argued that the commission's recommendation under Decision No. 177 regarding the events of September 8 and 9, 2025, conflicts with the Constitution, prevailing laws, and established international human rights principles. He also claimed that the recommendation is biased and unconstitutional, and requested that it be rectified.
Through the petition, he has also requested a certified copy of the report that the committee led by Lily Thapa reportedly submitted to the commission, stating that complete copies of previously requested documents and reports have not been provided.
Additionally, the petition demands certified copies of all documents related to which parts of the committee’s report the commission accepted, which parts were removed or added, and the reasons and basis for such decisions.
According to Bartaula, the petition further requests that if the commission conducted any additional inquiry, investigation, or study on this matter, certified copies of all related reports and other relevant documents also be provided.
