Kishore Thapa, the newly appointed chairman of the Tribhuvan University (TU) Service Commission, has been sworn into office.
Minister for Education Sasmit Pokharel, who also serves as the pro-chancellor of the university, administered the oath of office and secrecy to Thapa at the ministry on Thursday.
Thapa, a former government secretary and senior urban planner, was appointed by Prime Minister and TU Chancellor Balen Shah as the chairman of the TU Service Commission.
During the same ceremony, the newly appointed member of the Service Commission, Prof Dr Rejina Maskey Byanju, was sworn in by Thapa in the presence of Education Minister Pokharel.
Speaking briefly after the oath ceremony, Thapa pledged to carry out his responsibilities with fearlessness, impartiality, and integrity. He said that he would work to support the career development and professional capacity of Tribhuvan University faculty and staff while contributing to institutional reforms at the university.
Thapa also expressed confidence that, during his tenure, he would work tirelessly to advance the Service Commission and the university as a whole, drawing on the university's glorious history while helping it meet the challenges of the 21st century and enhance its stature.
