Nearly 50 percent of the central committee members elected in the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) are women.
A total of 49 women were elected as central committee members in the first phase of voting held on Wednesday night.
Among those who contested, 61.25 percent of female candidates were elected.
A total of 80 women candidates had contested for central committee positions in the party.
Overall, 384 candidates competed for 99 central committee seats.
According to the candidate list, 174 candidates contested under the geographical cluster, while 210 contested under the national cluster. In the geographical cluster, 139 men and 35 women were in the race.
Similarly, in the national cluster, 165 men and 45 women were candidates.
The remaining 50 central committee members will be nominated by party President Rabi Lamichhane.
As a result, the number of women in the central committee is expected to increase further.
