Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has included leaders from the factions of former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and senior leader Shekhar Koirala in the party’s central committee.
Leaders aligned with Deuba and Koirala had not participated in the special general convention held in January.
Therefore, Thapa nominated 19 leaders close to Deuba and Koirala to the central committee on Monday.
According to the party’s central office, Thapa nominated general convention representatives as central committee members under Article 21 (10) of the party statute, 2017 (with amendments).
Thapa nominated former joint general secretary Mahendra Yadav and Jeevan Pariyar as central committee members. Yadav is close to Deuba, while Pariyar is aligned with Koirala.
