Ex-minister Umesh Yadav leaves NCP, joins JSP Nepal

Nepali Communist Party (NCP) leader and former irrigation minister Umesh Yadav has joined the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal.

He formally joined the party on Tuesday. Party Chairman Upendra Yadav welcomed him by presenting a ceremonial scarf and party membership.

The NCP had recommended Yadav as a candidate from Saptari-2.

Yadav was elected from Saptari-3 in the 2013 Constituent Assembly election but has not been able to win an election since then.

In the 2017 election, he was defeated by Upendra Yadav.

In 2022, he contested the provincial assembly election from Saptari 2 (2). In that election, he was defeated by Mahesh Yadav of the Janamat Party.
