An understanding has been reached to create a conducive environment for conducting the general election scheduled for March 5, 2026.
According to Kiran Pokharel, press advisor to President Ram Chandra Paudel, this understanding was reached during a meeting held on Tuesday afternoon at the President's Office, Sheetal Niwas.
President Paudel, Prime Minister Sushila Karki, and former prime ministers and top leaders of the three major political parties – Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, and Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal – took part in the discussion.
According to Pokharel, the leaders also agreed to hold detailed discussions at Baluwatar to create a conducive environment for the election.
"The election was announced to provide a way out at a time when the country’s situation is grave and sensitive. Keeping this gravity in mind, it is our collective and sole responsibility to ensure the success of the polls," President Paudel said during the meeting.
Stating that elections are the most appropriate option to resolve the current complex situation of the country, President Paudel urged the prime minister and the top leaders of the three major political parties to work toward successfully conducting the House of Representatives election on March 5.
