The Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) has said that it will not sign the petition in favor of reinstating the House of Representatives.
Speaking with Setopati, party leader Sharat Singh Bhandari said that their party does not support the restoration of the House.
"Our party is in favor of a fresh mandate," Bhandari said. "It is in favor of elections, not the restoration of the House of Representatives."
While the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have moved the court seeking the restoration of the House, the LSP has clarified that it will not join them.
"We will not go to court for [House] restoration," Bhandari added. "The party has decided to go for elections."
Previously, some leaders from the NC and UML had claimed that the LSP was also in favor of House restoration and would join them in court to submit signatures.
Meanwhile, a majority of outgoing lawmakers from the two major parties (NC and UML) have already signed in favor of House restoration.
