The Bibeksheel Sajha Party (BSP), led by Samiksha Baskota, has decided to merge with the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
The party made the decision to unify with the RSP during a central committee meeting held on Wednesday.
BSP spokesperson Ashutosh Pradhan released a statement publicizing the party’s decision to merge with the RSP. According to him, the announcement ceremony for the unification of the two parties will take place on Sunday.
The BSP central committee meeting held on Wednesday unanimously approved the “broader polarization/unification proposal” among alternative political parties, which was presented by Prakash Chandra Pariyar, the party’s vice-chairman and coordinator of the dialogue committee.
He said that the committee approved the decision to merge with the RSP based on the proposal.
Other technical issues concerning the party unification will soon be resolved based on the mutual understanding of the leadership of both parties, he added. BSP leaders have said that they will contest the elections under the RSP's symbol, bell.
