Surendra Labh Karna sworn in as Madhesh province chief

President Ram Chandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Surendra Labh Karna, the newly-appointed province chief of Madhesh.

On Tuesday, President Paudel administered the oath to Karna during a ceremony held at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas.

Following controversy over the appointment of Saroj Kuamr Yadav as the chief minister of Madhesh province, the government on Monday decided to recommend the dismissal of Province Chief Sumitra Subedi Bhandari.

Bhandari courted controversy after she administered the oath of office to Chief Minister Yadav at Panas Hotel, located on the border of Bardibas and Sindhuli, around 4-5 a.m. on Monday.

She lost her position as province chief after secretly conducting the swearing-in ceremony at the hotel on the advice of CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli. President Paudel removed her earlier on Tuesday.
