A total of 183 leaders, including General Secretary Dhawal Shumsher Rana, have resigned from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) in the first phase of departures from the party.
They announced their collective resignation from the RPP at a gathering organized by Rana in Kathmandu on Thursday.
The group consists of office-bearers, former and current central members of the party available in the Kathmandu Valley, as well as office-bearers and members of the party’s affiliated organizations.
The office-bearers who announced their departure include Vice-chairman Mukunda Shyam Giri, General Secretary Rana, Dilnath Giri, Keshav Raj Shrestha, Narayan Prasad Koirala, Sagun Sundar Lawati, Dhansur Shahi, Meena Shahi, Dil Bikash Rajbhandari, and Nanimaya Acharya, among others.
Party Chairman Rajendra Lingden had previously taken action against most of these leaders.
This departure comes amid recent internal conflicts within the RPP, with leaders citing deep disagreements with the working style of Chairman Lingden as the primary reason for their exit.
Rana is reportedly preparing to launch a new political party. He has said that he will build a strong nationalist force.
