Senior leader of the CPN (Unified Socialist) Jhala Nath Khanal is set to become the third-ranked leader of the unified party.
On Wednesday morning, an understanding was reached between CPN (Maoist Center) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Khanal to make the latter the third-ranked leader in the unified party.
The name of the unified party is Nepali Communist Party.
Previously, it had been agreed that Dahal would be the first-ranked leader, followed by Madhav Kumar Nepal. Bamdev Gautam was to be ranked third. Now, Gautam will be ranked below Jhala Nath.
However, Dahal’s secretariat has said that the formal announcement will be made shortly.
“There is an understanding that he will be the third-ranked leader; an official announcement will be made shortly,” the secretariat said.
Dahal and Khanal met on Wednesday morning.
In the last central committee meeting of the Unified Socialist, Khanal had expressed disagreement with the party’s unification with the Maoist Center and others.
However, Khanal attended the unification ceremony of 10 parties on Wednesday.
